Usha ThoratIndependent Director
Usha Thorat joined the Board on 30th April 2017.
She joined the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in 1972 and became its Deputy Governor in 2005, remaining in this position till 2010. After stepping down from RBI, Usha Thorat was entrusted by the RBI to set up the Centre for Advanced Financial Research and Learning (CAFRAL) in banking and finance. She held charge as Director of CAFRAL from 2011 to 2014.
She is active with a number of non-Governmental organizations including the Indian Cancer Society as trustee and Chairperson of the Governing and Advisory Council of the Cancer Cure Fund. She is a member of the Board of Governors of the Foundation for Ecological Security that works on issues of sustainability and equitable development, and is a Trustee of the Impact India Foundation that works in the health space. She is also Vice President of the Bombay Natural History Society.
