Usha Thorat joined the Board on 30th April 2017.

She joined the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in 1972 and became its Deputy Governor in 2005, remaining in this position till 2010. After stepping down from RBI, Usha Thorat was entrusted by the RBI to set up the Centre for Advanced Financial Research and Learning (CAFRAL) in banking and finance. She held charge as Director of CAFRAL from 2011 to 2014. 

She chairs the Financial Benchmarks India (Private) Ltd and is active as trustee in the NGO sector in the areas of health and environment.
